Important Information

• Rotoroa Island - Need to Know
  • Rotoroa Island is open most days from dawn until dusk
  • Changing sheds, historic buildings, the museum and exhibition centre are open 10am - 5pm every day (except Christmas Day)
  • There is a small kiosk which sells ice creams, ice blocks, cold drinks and a small range of conservation books, open 90 minutes before the ferry departs 
  • A fresh water drinking fountain is located by the kiosk
  • There is no food for sale on the island so please remember to take your own food and snacks for the day and pack in a sealable container
  • Electric BBQ's are available to use at Home Bay and Ladies' Bay. These are free to use if available, or $30 to book for a two hour period. To book an allocated time for a BBQ please contact the  duty ranger by emailing hello@rotoroa.org.nz or calling (09) 283 0849.
  • There are no rubbish bins on the island, so please remember to take all your rubbish with you when you leave
  • Dogs are not permitted
  • Bicycles, scooters and skateboards are not permitted on the island

• Rotoroa Island - Want to stay overnight?

  If you wish to stay overnight on Rotoroa Island, you will need to book your return ferry tickets directly with our reservations team. Please email info@exploregroup.co.nz or call 0800 397 567 to arrange.

  There is a range of overnight accommodation available on Rotoroa Island which can be booked at rotoroa.org.nz. For any queries you may have regarding accommodation you can email Rotoroa Island directly at stay@rotoroa.org.nz.
